Governor Holcomb Visits Richmond State Hospital

On Wednesday, June 28, Governor Eric Holcomb traveled to Richmond State Hospital for the ceremonial signings of four bills, all relating to the state’s commitment to combating the current opioid epidemic: HEA 1438 (Syringe exchange programs), SEA 226 (Prescribing and dispensing of opioids), HEA 1540 (Pharmacies and pharmacists) and HEA 1654 (Combating drug abuse).

Richmond Superintendent Dr. Warren Fournier and DMHA Director Kevin Moore were among the FSSA team members who joined other legislators, state dignitaries and key stakeholders for the ceremony.

Governor Holcomb referenced RSH along with the Neuro-Diagnostic Institute under construction as well as the other state psychiatric hospitals as key components in the state’s efforts to help Hoosiers struggling with addictions and mental illness.

Joining Gov. Holcomb were State Senators Jim Merritt and Michael Crider and State Representatives Cindy Kirchhofer and Cindy Ziemke.
