Letter of Support Request

Letter of Support/Endorsement Requests

Organizations frequently seek letters of support or endorsement from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) when applying for federal, state, local, or private funding. Each request undergoes a review by content experts to determine whether the proposed work aligns with IDOE priorities, demonstrates a feasible plan, and has the potential to improve outcomes for Indiana learners. Requests that do not meet these expectations may not be approved.

To support a timely review, applicants must provide clear information about the proposal’s goals, anticipated impact, and alignment with statewide priorities. Complete submissions help IDOE respond efficiently.

How to Request a Letter of Support/Endorsement

Applicants must submit an electronic request for a letter of support/endorsement at least 14 business days before the application deadline for a complete review. This window ensures that IDOE has adequate time to consider programmatic, fiscal, and administrative implications. Exceptions may be considered if the applicant demonstrates a compelling need.

Review Process

Requests are evaluated using criteria that consider alignment with statewide priorities, readiness to implement, evidence of need, and organizational capacity. IDOE may request additional information if needed to complete the review.

As part of this review, IDOE also determines how many letters of support it will issue for a given opportunity. This internal limit helps IDOE manage commitments responsibly and ensure endorsements are applied consistently across applicants.

Contact

Applicants with questions about the process or preparing a complete request should contact Lettersofsupport@idoe.gov or their IDOE liaison.
