LINK Initiative

What is the LINK Initiative?

The LINK Initiative is a multi-year effort involving five component projects aimed at improving customer experience and support for schools in order to leverage information technology to advance the vision and mission of the IDOE. After evaluating its portfolio of core business processes, the IDOE identified candidates for modernization and enhancement in five main areas.

LINK Initiative Projects

The IDOE team developing the scope of the LINK Initiative based on the evaluation of current state of multiple measures, including solution performance metrics, risk and opportunity identification, business owner interviews and stakeholder surveys. Analysis resulted in the charter of five projects.

These systems represent the key LINK Initiatives:

Data ExchangeData Exchange: The purpose of this project is to improve the process of data transfer and certification for student and educator level data submitted by schools and school corporations. View the roadmap

Data Exchange Data Exchange

Data Exchange Data Exchange will allow schools to configure their Indiana Ed-Fi, XML data transfers, view tier 2 validations and certify their data snapshots.
To be Retired: 
STN Application Center The STN Application Center will be retired and replaced by the Data Exchange system.
DOE Online Various collection items such as the calendar or key contacts within DOEOnline will be collected via Data Exchange. Grant information will be part of the INtelligrants solution.
Learning Connection The data reports in Learning Connection will be replaced by the Data Dashboard. IDOE staff will utilize other modern communication technologies to communicate with schools. In addition, Unified Access will be the new front door for IndianaIEP.

INview INview

INview The primary audience for this website is parents and displays school performance data about schools, corporations and networks in Indiana.
To be Retired: 
Compass The INview website will replace compass.

Existing Systems to be Updated:

Moodle Moodle will continue to be a collaboration and training platform. Moodle will be reconfigured to utilize Unified Access logins.
Indiana IEP IndianaIEP will continue in its current form. The entry point will become the LINK portal.
Individual Learning Plans (ILP) This is a newer system. The entry point will be the LINK portal.
Indiana Complaint, Hearing, & Mediation Process (I-CHAMP) The system will be reconfigured to have the entry point be the LINK portal and to utilize data from Data Exchange.
LVIS Licensure System The system will re reconfigured to have the entry point be the LINK portal.
Educator License Lookup This system will re reconfigured to utilize data from Data Exchange.
School Food Direct Certification / Direct Verification This system will be reconfigured to utilize data from Data Exchange.
School Food CNP Web App This system will be reconfigured as needed to fit in with the LINK Initiatives.
Finance: Form 9 This system will be reconfigured to have the entry point be the LINK Portal.
Accountability Center This system will be reconfigured to have the entry point be the LINK Portal.

Existing Systems to be Replaced:

ISTAR-KR A new state assessment vendor has been identified to provide the early childhood assessment.
MIDAS A new migrant system called MIS2000 is in development.
Choice Scholarship/ Voucher This system will manage the choice scholarship/voucher applications and payments.
Homeschool Enrollment Parents can choose to report that they homeschool their children via this application. An improved way to report will be coming.
