Planning Commission

New Building Permit Fee Ordinance (Effective May 26, 2021)

The Harrison County Plan Commission is responsible for planning the orderly development of the County. The office processes change of zone applications, subdivision applications, variance, and special exception requests. Improvement location permits (building permits), building inspections, certificates of occupancy, issuance of addresses, and sign permits are also included in the department's duties.

On October 5, 2009, the conversion of the County Zoning Map to digital format was completed and a reference copy in PDF format is available online in the Zoning Document Center (see below). This PDF is provided for reference only and it is strongly recommended that the zoning of a parcel be confirmed prior to making any land use decision.

Zoning conformations may be obtained by calling Eric Wise at (812) 738-8927.
