Floyd County Prosecutor

Chris Lane is currently the elected Prosecuting Attorney for Floyd County. Prior to the 2022 election, Lane was selected to succeed long-time Prosecutor Keith Henderson in August of 2020. Lane previously served as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for over three years.

Raised in New Albany, Lane graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Communications from IU Southeast in 1995. Lane later received a Master of Science in Social Work in 1997 and graduated with a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Capital University Law School in 2003.

Lane practiced private law in Indiana and Kentucky, where he litigated complex governmental legislation and financial issues in the State and Federal courts. Lane previously served as the Greenville Town Attorney, the attorney for the Floyd County Council, and as a Floyd County Election Board member.

Lane worked in the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office from 2005 to 2009 before returning in 2017 as Chief Deputy Prosecutor. As Chief Deputy, Lane handled all major criminal litigation, including murder, domestic violence, and significant drug offenses, while managing office provisions and providing continuing education to law enforcement agencies.

Living in the New Albany Township with his wife, Dr. Christina Lane, and their four children, Lane and his family remain active within the community. Dr. Lane owns Growing Kids Pediatrics, a local medical practice specializing in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Chris and Christy are both active members of Southeast Christian Church and enjoy spending their spare time with their children and running marathons.
