The Common Council is the city's legislative branch. It has the exclusive authority to adopt ordinances, appropriate tax monies the city receives, and perform other necessary and desirable legislative functions. The Council shall comprise seven members, two of whom shall be elected at large.
The regular meeting date and time for the Common Council shall be 5:45 p.m. on the first(1st) and third (3rd) Monday of each month unless otherwise specified. Meetings are held at City Hall, 125 N. Wayne St., Alexandria, IN 46001.
