The Common Council is the city's legislative branch. It has the exclusive authority to adopt ordinances, appropriate tax monies the city receives, and perform other necessary and desirable legislative functions. The Council shall comprise seven members, two of whom shall be elected at large.
Meeting time. Effective January 1, 2012, the regular meeting date and time for the Common Council shall be 5:45 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month unless otherwise specified. Meetings are held at City Hall at 125 N. Wayne St., Alexandria, IN 46001.
