Become an IHCP Provider

By becoming an Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) provider, you have the opportunity to improve the health and well-being of more Hoosiers, including the state’s most vulnerable populations. Through programs such as Traditional Medicaid, the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), Hoosier Healthwise, Hoosier Care Connect and Indiana PathWays for Aging (PathWays), the IHCP performs a vital public service, helping about one in seven Hoosiers stay healthy or start down the road to better health. The IHCP provides pregnant women and their babies with critical prenatal care and continued care for children throughout their developmental years. The IHCP also provides critical health coverage for low-income individuals of all ages, including the elderly and those with disabilities.

To achieve these goals, the IHCP relies on the participation of providers from a variety of specialties across the state. Please consider becoming an IHCP provider today.

Additional resources to help you through the enrollment process include the IHCP Quick Hit Video: Provider Enrollment and the Provider Enrollment provider reference module. If you have questions about becoming an IHCP provider, contact the Provider Relations consultant for your region.

Note: Providers that wish to participate in a Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver program will need to be certified by the appropriate Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) agency before enrolling with the IHCP. For Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Health and Wellness (H&W), or Indiana PathWays for Aging (PathWays) waiver services, providers must submit a request for certification to the Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning (OMPP) using the OMPP HCBS Certification Portal. For Family Supports Waiver (FSW) or Community Integration and Habilitation (CIH) waiver services, providers must submit a request for certification to the Bureau of Disabilities Services (BDS) at BDSProviderServices@fssa.in.gov. For more information, see the OMPP HCBS: Indiana Pathways for Aging Waiver module and the DDRS HCBS Waivers module.

Locations Need Providers 2018-10

Providers Located Outside Indiana

For most provider types and specialties, the IHCP allows providers that are located outside of Indiana to enroll with the IHCP to serve Indiana Medicaid members. The IHCP Provider Enrollment Type and Specialty Matrix includes special documentation requirements for providers that are located outside Indiana. It also indicates particular provider types and specialties that are ineligible for IHCP enrollment if not located in Indiana.

Special prior authorization requirements apply for services rendered by IHCP providers with an "out-of-state" (OOS) enrollment status. However, eligible providers that are located in certain designated areas outside Indiana can enroll in the IHCP with an "in-state" status for prior authorization purposes. For applicable ZIP Codes, see Out-of-State Areas Designated as In-State for IHCP Providers. Some other circumstances, identified during the enrollment application process, may also qualify an eligible out-of-state provider to enroll in the IHCP with an in-state status for prior authorization purposes.

Note: The designated areas and other circumstances that allow an out-of-state provider to enroll in the IHCP with an in-state status apply only to provider types and specialties that are eligible for enrollment if located outside Indiana. This option is not available to provider types and specialties that are excluded from out-of-state enrollment.
