Hispanic & Latino Affairs Subcommittee
The Hispanic & Latino Affairs Subcommittee works to identify, study, and address issues affecting Hispanic and Latino communities across Indiana. As a statutory subcommittee of the Indiana Cultural Commission, the group supports statewide engagement, collaboration, and recommendations related to education, workforce opportunity, language access, health, civic participation, and community development.
The subcommittee continues the work previously carried out by the Indiana Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs and helps ensure that Hispanic and Latino communities continue to have representation and a dedicated voice within the Indiana Cultural Commission.
Subcommittee Responsibilities
Under Indiana law, the Hispanic & Latino Affairs Subcommittee is required to meet at least two times each year and provide an annual report to the full Indiana Cultural Commission.
Responsibilities of the subcommittee may include:
- Reviewing issues affecting Hispanic and Latino communities
- Supporting outreach and engagement efforts
- Identifying barriers impacting opportunity and access
- Developing recommendations for the Commission
- Encouraging statewide collaboration and cultural awareness
- Participating in educational and community initiatives
About the Subcommittee
The Hispanic & Latino Affairs Subcommittee was established under HEA 1003 as one of four statutory subcommittees within the Indiana Cultural Commission. The subcommittee supports outreach, engagement, and recommendations related to issues affecting Hispanic and Latino communities throughout Indiana.
The subcommittee works collaboratively with commissioners, community organizations, educators, business leaders, and residents to strengthen cultural understanding, encourage community engagement, and support initiatives that improve opportunity and access across Indiana.

Continuing the Work
The Hispanic & Latino Affairs Subcommittee continues and expands upon the work previously led by the Indiana Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs. Through the unified structure of the Indiana Cultural Commission, the subcommittee helps ensure continued representation, engagement, and statewide collaboration focused on issues impacting Hispanic and Latino communities across Indiana.
