What are the benefits of using SIDES for employers and DWD?

Notifications

SIDES eliminates delays related to mailing paper claim notifications allowing more time for employers to gather separation facts.

Eligibility

The dynamic step by step question format ensures employers provide key facts state workforce agencies need to make more accurate eligibility determinations.

Claims

Providing key facts about separation with the initial response saves employers time on the phone with Claims Investigators.

Reduce

SIDES has been proven to reduce improper payments and tax rates.

Get electronic notification when a claim is filed.

When a UI claim has been filed, DWD will notify employers by posting a notification in ESS.  When possible, a courtesy notification email will also be sent to ESS users with the appropriate benefit role and a validated email address.

Access SIDES E-Response through ESS.

No need to keep 2 sets of credentials!  DWD has implemented SIDES single sign-on through ESS.  This feature allows employers to access the SIDES E-Response website after logging into ESS. Employers will be redirected to, and automatically logged into, the SIDES E-Response website.  A response to DWD’s request for initial separation information will be provided online and employers will receive immediate confirmation of receipt when the response is submitted.

To review ESS user roles and ensure employer contact email addresses are validated, please login to ESS and navigate to “Benefits/UI Claims” from the lefthand menu.
