- How do I change the address on my account?
To change your address on your Uplink Employer Self Service (ESS) page with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD), follow these steps:
1. Log in to Uplink ESS:
- Go to Uplink ESS and log in with your credentials.
2. Navigate to Profile Maintenance:
- Use the left-hand menu and select "Profile Maintenance."
3. Select Legal Information:
- Click on "Contact Information." Here, you can view and update your business address and other contact details.
4. Edit Address:
- Type in correct address and check the box that says "the above address is the correct legal address"
- Click on "Update" button.
*If you have multiple business locations or need to change the benefits address, use the "Locations" option in the same menu.
5. Confirmation:
- Your updated address should now be reflected in your account profile.

If you are unable to update your address online or need to change your legal business address, you may need to contact the DWD Employer Call Center at 1-800-891-6499 for assistance. - Can you inactivate/reactivate my account?
Yes, you can inactivate your employer account in Indiana using the Uplink Employer Self-Service (ESS) portal. To do this:
1. Log in to your Uplink ESS account.
2. Go to the "Change Account Status" section in the left-hand navigation menu.
3. Click on "Employer Status Change."
4. Complete the required fields and click "Submit."
5. Confirm the status change when prompted.If your inactivation request does not meet certain business rules, the action may fail. - My password won't work; what should I do?
If your DWD Employer Self Service (ESS) password doesn’t work, follow these steps to reset it:
1. Go to the Uplink ESS
- Click “Forgot Password?”
- On the login screen, click the “Forgot Password?” link.
2. Enter Your Username and Email:
- Provide your username and the email address associated with your ESS account.
3. Follow the Instructions:
- You will receive an email with a link to reset your password. Follow the link and create a new password.
4. If You Don’t Receive the Email or Still Can’t Log In:
- Check your spam or junk folder.

- I want to register as an employer with an existing Indiana DWD account number.
To register as an employer with an existing Indiana DWD account number (SUTA number) in Uplink Employer Self Service (ESS), follow these steps:
1. Go to Uplink ESS
2. Click “New User”:
- On the login screen, click the “New User” button.
3. Select Registration Type:
- Choose “Employer” from the drop-down menu.
- When asked if you have an existing SUTA account number, select “Yes.”
4. Enter Your Account Information:
- Enter your existing SUTA account number and other required business details.
- Create your username, password, and security question.
- Provide a valid email address and accept the user agreement.
5. Complete Registration:
- Follow the prompts to finish setting up your user account.
- You will receive a confirmation email—be sure to verify your email address.
6. Access Your Account:
- Once registered, you can log in and manage your existing employer account in ESS.

- How do I assign authorization levels?
To assign authorization levels for users in the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Uplink Employer Self Service (ESS) system, follow these steps:
1. Log in to Uplink ESS
- Go to Uplink ESS and log in with your administrator credentials.
2. Navigate to User Maintenance
- Use the left-hand menu and select "Profile Maintenance".
- Then select "User Maintenance".
3. Add or Edit a User
- To add a new user, click "Add New User".
- Enter the required user information, including a unique email address.
- To edit an existing user, select the user and click "Edit".
4. Assign Authorization Level
- In the user setup or edit screen, you will see a drop-down menu for Authorization Level.
- Choose the appropriate level for the user:
- Administrator: Full access, including adding/removing users and making account changes.
- Tax: Access to tax-related functions (can be combined with other roles).
- Wage Records: Access to wage reporting (must also have the Tax role).
- Benefits: Access to benefits-related functions.
- Select the desired level and save your changes.
5. Save and Confirm
- Click "Add & New" or "Update" to save the user and their assigned authorization level.
Note: Only users with the administrator role can add or manage other users and assign authorization levels.

- I sold/closed my business, what do I do?
If you have sold or closed your business in Indiana, you need to notify the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and the Department of Revenue (DOR) to properly close your accounts and fulfill your legal obligations.
For DWD (Unemployment Insurance):
- You must file State Form 46800 (SUTA Account Termination or Transfer Request) with DWD within 30 days of your final decision to cease business operations.
- This form can be submitted through the Uplink ESS portal.
- If Sold, "Report a Transfer" because we need info on the new business.
- If Closed, "Change Status/Change Account Status" or downloaded from the DWD website.
- File all outstanding wage reports and pay any unemployment insurance taxes due for the final quarter of operation.
If you do not notify DWD, you and other responsible parties may become personally liable for any outstanding liabilities.

- Close your tax accounts using INTIME, the DOR’s online portal. If you do not have an INTIME account, submit Form BC-100 (Business Closure Request).
- If your business is a corporation, you must first file Articles of Dissolution with the Indiana Secretary of State and then submit Form IT-966 (Notice of Dissolution) and Form BC-100 to DOR.
Make sure to file your final tax returns and resolve any outstanding liabilities.

- This form should be filed within 30 days of your final decision to cease business operations.
2. Submit the Form:
- You can submit the form through the Uplink Employer Self Service (ESS) portal or mail it to the address provided on the form.
3. Continue Filing Reports:
- Continue to file quarterly reports (even if you have nothing to report) until you receive confirmation from DWD that your account has been terminated or made inactive.
4. Contact DWD for Assistance:

- My email address has changed and I'm not getting the email verification. What do I do?
If your employer email address has changed and you are not receiving the email verification, here are the steps you should follow:
1. Check Your Spam/Junk Folder: Sometimes verification emails are filtered as spam. Look for the email in your spam or junk folder.
2. Resend the Verification Email: If possible, use the “Resend Verification Email” option in the system you are using.
3. Update Your Email in Access Indiana:
- Log in to your Access Indiana account.
- Go to your profile and select “Change Email Address.”
- Enter your new email address and follow the prompts to receive a new verification code.
- If you do not receive the code, check your spam/junk folder again.
4. Employer Self-Service (ESS) for DWD:
- If you are using the Department of Workforce Development’s Employer Self-Service (ESS) or SIDES E-Response, you may need to request an update to your email address.
- Email the DWD with your employer name, FEIN, account number, current and new email addresses, and contact information.

5. Contact Support:
- If you still do not receive the verification email, contact the appropriate help desk. For DWD/ESS, call 1-800-891-6499 or email AskUI@dwd.in.gov with your employer details.
