Indiana Educator Standards

NOTE: As of July 1, 2019, successful completion of the basic skills testing requirement (CASA or an approved alternative) will no longer be mandatory for educator candidates. However, educator preparation programs may elect to continue to require CASA for program admission. This change was made by the 2019 Indiana General Assembly. To determine whether you need to take the CASA assessment, contact your educator preparation program directly.

The standards below will primarily be used by educator preparation programs to document alignment for educator licensure. All programs must align to a content area as well as appropriate developmental/pedagogy standards. These standards were designed to meet REPA as well as Indiana Academic Standards. For more information, read the REPA Teacher Standards Process Document.
