IDHS EMS Issues Almost $1.3 Million for Health First Readiness Equipment Grant

The EMS Division has issued $1,279,763.04 in awards for the Health First EMS Readiness EMS Equipment Grant (FY2024). The grant was created using a portion of the roughly $6.4 million allocated by the state legislature to be distributed in the next two fiscal years as part of Health First EMS Readiness funds. Eligible applicants were Indiana EMS training institutions for this round of grants. View the distribution of awards below.

The IDHS EMS Training Equipment Grant supports the development and operational support of EMS training institutions across Indiana. It was created to support training initiatives that increase the number of certified emergency medical technicians and paramedics active in the state. Eligible applicants are active, certified Indiana EMS training institutions.

Grant-eligible items must be related to EMS education that directly produces certified EMS clinicians. Examples include manikins, cardiac monitors, simulation technologies and pulse oximetry and capnography equipment.

Training Support Grant

The IDHS EMS Training Support Grant targets training initiatives in Indiana to increase the number of certified emergency medical technicians and paramedics. Eligible applicants are public safety entities, which include private EMS, hospital-based EMS, public EMS, career fire departments, combination fire departments, volunteer fire departments and Indiana EMS training institutions.

Funds available through the EMS Training Grant Program may only be used for the support of EMS certification training. Eligible expenses include paramedic classes, EMT classes, books and lab fees.

Mobile Integrated Healthcare Grant

The Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) Grant Program provides support for communities to develop and implement a mobile integrated healthcare program consistent with Indiana Code 16-31-12-4. Eligible applicants are any EMS Commission certified provider organization operated by a municipality.

Funding requests may be for any costs related to a MIH program, including personnel costs, equipment or vehicles. Existing funds for a project may not be displaced by funds awarded through the MIH Grant and reallocated for other organizational expenses.
