  • Current: Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC)

DCS LogoThe mission of the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) is to protect children from abuse and neglect. DCS does this by partnering with families and communities to provide safe, nurturing and stable homes.

The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) is a compact between all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands. It is a uniform law which establishes procedures for the placement of children across state lines. When a state receives an ICPC request, the receiving state will study the placement resource for appropriateness and safety of the placement. ICPC requests also identify the supervision requirements that will be necessary upon the child’s arrival in their new placement.
