The County Clerk is a constitutional officer of the county elected for a four year term. The Clerk is prohibited from serving more than two terms in a 12 year period.
The Parke County Clerk is responsible for the following functions:
- Administrative duties: Keeping track of county records, managing public databases, and ensuring the integrity of official documents.
- Community services: Issuing licenses and certificates, such as marriage licenses and business permits, which have a direct impact on the lives of citizens.
- Election administration: Overseeing electoral processes, from voter registration to certifying election results, and ensuring fair and transparent elections as well as receiving filings of candidacy from persons seeking certain elective public offices.
The following functions have daily deadlines at the Parke County Clerks Office:
- No marriage license applications after 3:30 PM daily. Information on what you need to know before applying and the online applications can be found here.
- No protective orders after 3:00 PM daily. Protective orders can also be e-filed at https://www.in.gov/courts/selfservice/protection-orders
- No divorces filed after 3:00 PM daily. More Information on what you will need to file for divorce yourself can be found here
- No name changes after 3:00 PM daily.
