Request for Qualifications Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract - 6/19/2026

Notice is hereby given that Clay County, Indiana shall receive responses for a Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract until (07/27/26) at 1 pm local time at the Clay County Auditor’s Office, 609 East National Avenue, Brazil, IN 47834.Responses will be in accordance with I.C. 36-1-12.5 and the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) guidelines.  For more information contact Patti Foxx at foxxp@claycounty.in.gov or 812 448-9001.

The Qualified Provider to whom the work is awarded shall conform to the wages determined for this project. All responses must contain the content and, in the format, described within the RFQ.

County Commissioners reserve the right to terminate this project prior to responses being received, to reject all responses and to be the sole judge of the value and merit of the responses offered.

Announcement from the Clay County Commissioners - 6/12/2026

In the past few days, there has been much speculation on a data center in Clay County. We, as Clay County Commissioners, have not been contacted by any group, company, or individual about the construction of a Data Center in Clay County.

From the information in the Brazil Times, a permit has been issued by the State of Indiana to possibly construct a power generating station south of Carbon. Again, we have not been contacted or know anything about this station.

As taxpayers, we as Commissioners are opposed to the development of a data center in Clay County. We are currently working on an ordinance to deal with this and future projects of this type.

We are very concerned with the proposed development of a power generating station in northern Clay County, which could lead to a data center.
