Office of the Mayor

The Mayor serves as the chief executive officer of the City and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of municipal government. Duties include enforcing local ordinances, supervising city departments, preparing and administering the annual budget, and representing the City in official matters. The Mayor works closely with the Common Council to implement policies, provide municipal services, and promote the community’s growth and development.

The Mayor is elected by the residents of the City of Ligonier to a four-year term. The election is held concurrently with the elections for the Clerk-Treasurer and members of the Common Council.

A Message from Mayor Bryan K. Shearer

A warm welcome to you from the City of Ligonier Indiana. Known as the “City of Murals” and recognized for our historic Main Street. We are a high energy city that values its residents, businesses, and visitors. Our diverse population gives our community a rich mix of cultures.

Ligonier thrives as an industry hub, and we also offer great sports and recreation facilities with our many parks within the city, including Kenney Park with the Jennie Thompson Memorial Garden, and the Strawberry Valley Trail System.

My administration and I are committed to serving you at the highest level possible, and public safety is of the utmost importance and one of my top priorities. Our city is comprised of multiple departments including; Police, Fire, Water, Street, Wastewater, and Parks. Each department strives to meet the needs of our residents, businesses, and visitors.

Ligonier is a great place to do business as we expand our downtown development and focus on revitalization. Through a variety of committees, volunteers, residents, entrepreneurs, and city staff you will see our community growing and evolving.
