About the Redevelopment Authority
A Redevelopment Authority (RDA) in Indiana is a separate legal entity created by a city to assist its Redevelopment Commission in financing large public projects. Its main role is to own certain redevelopment-related properties or improvements and lease them to the Redevelopment Commission, often using lease rental bonds as the funding mechanism. This structure allows for financing major projects like public buildings or infrastructure improvements without impacting constitutional debt limits.
The Redevelopment Authority consists of three members appointed by the mayor.
