About the Economic Development Commission

An Economic Development Commission (EDC) in Indiana is a local government body established to promote economic growth by supporting business development, job creation, and investment within the community. The EDC primarily assists in issuing tax-exempt bonds for financing private and public projects, such as industrial facilities or infrastructure, that contribute to local economic development. Members are typically appointed by local officials, and the commission works closely with redevelopment commissions and local governments.

The Redevelopment Authority consists of three members appointed by the mayor.

  • Julia Bell (Vice-President)
    • Mayoral Appointment Recommended by the City Council - 2-Year Term 01-01-2025 to 12-31-2026
  • Barb Hawn (Secretary)
    • Mayoral Appointment - 3-Year Term 01-01-2025 to 12-31-2027

Meeting Schedule

The Ligonier Economic Development Commission meets annually in January and on an as needed basis at the Ligonier City Hall, City Council Chambers, 301 S. Cavin Street (2nd Floor) .
