The Town of Georgetown was platted in Floyd County, Indiana by George Waltz in 1833, and accordingly named for him. The community is located 12 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky, just off Interstate 64 at Exit 118, and according to the 2012 census, the population is approximately 3,025 with the majority of the territory being considered residential.
