Dealer Training

The Indiana Secretary of State Auto Dealer Services Division knows that training is very important and wants to make it available to all dealers. The training includes information regarding record keeping, what to expect during an audit, common violations, and potential types of enforcement action. Additionally, we review the current online functions, renewals, and other resources helpful for your dealership. We offer several options for your convenience.

Auto Dealer Training Sessions 

Our office offers a free Auto Dealer Training to all dealers. The sessions are held in conjunction with the Department of Financial Institutions – Consumer Credit Division and are conducted virtually via Microsoft Teams. The sessions can be viewed from a computer or mobile device.

All training sessions will be held from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm (EST)

If you believe your dealership would benefit from this service, please email dealertraining@sos.in.gov to make your reservations.  When emailing, please include the dealership’s Name and Dealer Number for each dealership you wish to register.  Also list each staff member’s full name that will be attending and valid email address(es) to receive a confirmation email and details of joining the meeting.

On-Site Training Sessions

We offer a free Auto Dealer Training session to dealers at the location of the licensed dealership. If you believe your dealership staff would benefit from this service, contact Christie Games at 317-690-2635 or email dealertraining@sos.in.gov to schedule your on-site training.

Multi-Agency Dealer Education

Once a year, the Auto Dealer Services Divisions hosts a multi-agency training with the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR), and the Indiana Attorney General’s Office (OAG), and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV). This training is typically hosted in the fall. Once a date is determined, you will receive an update in your Dealer Portal dashboard.
