Funding Opportunities

The resources below represent an evolving list of funding opportunities related to school safety. This includes resources at the state and federal levels. This listing will be updated as more funding sources are identified and become available.   • Indiana Secured School Safety Grant Program

    The Indiana Secured School Safety Grant Fund provides matching grants to school corporations, accredited non-public schools, charter schools or a coalition of school corporations and/or charter schools applying jointly to: 

    1. Employ a school resource officer (salary, benefits and basic 40-hr training course);
    2. Conduct a threat assessment; and/or
    3. Purchase equipment to restrict access to the school or expedite the notification of first responders.

  • Indiana Common School Fund

    • If your school was previously approved for a matching grant from the Indiana Secured School Fund (established at Ind. Code 10-21-1-2) you may apply for an advance from the Indiana Common School Fund.
    • Pursuant to HEA 1230 and Ind. Code 20-49-10-5(a), advances may be used to purchase equipment or make capital improvements needed to:
      • restrict access to schools;
      • expedite the notification of first responders; or
      • improve school security.

  • Indiana Family and Social Services Administration Funding Opportunities

    All of Division of Mental Health and Addiction’s competitive funding opportunities are posted to this page in addition to information on bidder’s meetings, proposal request amendments, timelines and due dates, and responses to questions. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the site regularly as proposal requests are posted as they arise and will vary over the year.

  • Indiana Criminal Justice Institute Safe Haven Schools

    The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute Save Haven Schools program offers matching grants for public school districts to address:

    • Reducing alcohol, tobacco, and drug abuse;
    • Reducing violent behavior;
    • Promoting educational progress in the school.

  • U.S. Department of Justice School Violence Prevention

    The Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence Act of 2018 (STOP School Violence Act of 2018) gave the COPS Office authority to provide awards directly to States, units of local government, or Indian tribes to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the jurisdiction of the grantee through evidence-based school safety programs.

  • U.S. Bureau of Justice Assistance Grant Opportunities

    BJA provides formula grants, discretionary grants, earmark funding, and funding for payment programs to support state, local, tribal, and community efforts to build safe communities.

    While BJA awards many grants specifically to state, local, and tribal government, BJA also provides grant opportunities that support faith-based and non-profit activities. Please visit the BJA Funding page for a complete list of funding opportunities.

  • U.S. Department of Justice Grant Opportunities

    The Department of Justice offers funding opportunities to support law enforcement and public safety activities in state, local, and tribal jurisdictions; to assist victims of crime; to provide training and technical assistance; to conduct research; and to implement programs that improve the criminal, civil, and juvenile justice systems.

  • U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services Grant Programs
