Resources to help make life easier

Mental health challenges can affect everyone. While we can’t always avoid mental health challenges, we can make healthy choices to help manage it, such as keeping up good habits, taking a well-being break, or utilizing the available resources.

It’s crucial to know that as a State of Indiana employee, help is available for all kinds of mental health needs, and you have access to a wide variety of programs, tools, and resources all designed to help you feel better.

Listed below are some of the resources available to you.

Employee Assistance Program

optum logoThe Optum Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free service for all full-time State employees and those in their household. EAP gives you access to many tools to help you navigate life’s stressors including counseling sessions, caregiving support tools, legal and financial counseling, and online resources. These tools and resources are available 24/7 and are completely confidential.

You have 8 free face-to-face EAP counseling visits with a licensed therapist available per issue, per year. If you need help finding a provider in your community, ask for an Assisted Search. Optum will call providers in your area to make sure they are accepting new patients and have appointments available.

Anthem Resources

The Sydney Health mobile app provides quick access to your health plan information — all in one place. The app’s interactive chat feature helps you navigate your benefits with greater ease. Simply type your questions in the app to find answers quickly. Sydney Health can also suggest resources to help you understand your benefits, improve your health, and save money.

Total Health, Total You

Anthem's Total Health, Total You program gives you access to a team of clinicians to help you navigate any healthcare need. They can help by providing behavioral health support if you or a family member are experiencing stress, depression and anxiety, or are dealing with drug and alcohol abuse or other personal issues.

Learn to Live

Anthem provides emotional well-being resources through its Learn to Live program. Learn to Live allows you to access personalized coaching, add friends or family members as “teammates” to keep you motivated and accountable, practice mindfulness with helpful reminders and tips, and attend live and on-demand webinars.

LiveHealth Online

If you are covered by the State Employee Health Plan, you can also connect with a licensed therapist through Anthem’s LiveHealth Online service. All appointments are virtual, and normal cost sharing applies for these services if you have not yet met your deductible and coinsurance. LiveHealth Online therapists can help you handle your feelings, think more clearly about your situation, and develop better habits.

Behavioral Health Resource Center

The Anthem Behavioral Health Resource Center can also help you find treatment programs and help arrange confidential counseling and support services at no extra cost. This Anthem resource is available 24/7.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

988 Indiana988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is not only a suicide hotline, it is also a resource for people who are experiencing a mental health crisis of any kind, such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, substance use, and thoughts of self-harm.

988 is a way forward. It’s someone who gets you and gives you the nonjudgmental support you need. It’s whatever you need, when you need it. 988 offers a direct connection to compassionate, accessible care and support for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress, whether that is thoughts of suicide, mental health or substance use crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress.
