Energy Assistance Program (EAP) Media Kit

At IHCDA we recognize that the most effective way to inform Hoosiers about key resources is through our local network of community organizations like not-for-profits, community foundations, Township Trustees, faith-based organizations, local elected officials, and employers. To assist you with disseminating information about the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), referred to in Indiana as the Energy Assistance Program (EAP), we developed a media toolkit for you to easily share information about these programs with the individuals you serve.

What is the Energy Assistance Program (EAP)?

The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is a federally-funded program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) called the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program helps more than 100,000 Indiana households pay their heat and electric bills every year. EAP provides a one-time annual benefit that assists qualified households with the high cost of home energy. The program also helps households from having their utilities disconnected.

In addition to the standard EAP benefit, additional support is available for individuals that have been financially impacted by COVID-19. This $350 benefit is available to applicants that meet the eligibility criteria and did not receive the CARES Act benefit during the last program year.
