Information for HCV Voucher holders
Portability is the process that allows voucher holders and their families to move to an area outside of their current housing authority’s jurisdiction.
- Notify your current housing authority in writing that you would like to port your voucher to IHCDA’s jurisdiction.
- Complete the portability paperwork with your current housing authority. Please include the city and county where you intend to move as well as your own contact information (phone number, address, and email address).
- Request that your paperwork be sent to:

- Please allow 15 business days for your port packet to be sent and processed.
Effective June 6, 2024, IHCDA is billing agencies for all port-ins to our jurisdiction.
Step 1: Communicate with your case manager about the issue, preferably in writing via mail or email.
If the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, you have the right to appeal.
Step 2: Contact IHCDA for an appeal by writing to Section8@ihcda.in.gov
