Maternal Health Innovations (MHI)

PURPOSE

The Maternal Health Innovations Grant (MHI) is a five-year grant awarded from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) providing state grantees the opportunity to:

  • Better understand maternal health surveillance and data capacity,
  • Target implementation of innovative interventions to improve outcomes for populations impacted by maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, and
  • Target improving access to care that is comprehensive, high-quality, appropriate, and on-going throughout the perinatal period.

In 2024, IDOH reapplied and was re-awarded MHI grant funds through September 2029. The project is in Year 2 of the project period. Current grant activities are categorized into six key areas of focus. Click on each initiative to learn more.
