About the Commission

The Consumer Services and Healthcare Regulation Commission at the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) facilitates healthcare facility licensing and certification, healthcare quality, and ensures radiation safety and protection among healthcare providers.

Through its programs, the Consumer Services and Healthcare Regulation Commission:

  • promotes healthcare quality;
  • licenses and certifies healthcare facilities, agencies, clinics, centers, and providers; and
  • ensures accurate state standards for weights, measures, and metrology.

Report a Complaint

Anyone may submit a complaint to IDOH about care provided at any licensed or certified Indiana healthcare facility or entity. IDOH investigates all complaints.

Report an Incident

State or federal regulations require health facilities or entities to report certain types of “incidents” to IDOH.

Report a Reasonable Suspicion of a Crime

Federal law requires “covered individuals” to report a reasonable suspicion of a crime against a long-term care resident to IDOH and a local law enforcement entity. Covered individuals include an owner, operator, employee, manager, agent, or contractor of the facility. The included facilities include nursing homes, hospice facilities, or intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
