Planning, managing and performing the processing of materials into intermediate or final products and related professional and technical support activities such as production planning and control, maintenance and manufacturing/process engineering.
Popularly known as 3-D printing, additive manufacturing has grown to serve a wide range of industries through prototyping, product and component manufacturing, and the innovative and efficient use of advanced materials. Indiana Tech’s undergraduate certificate in additive manufacturing instructs students in foundational concepts, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), computer-aided design (CAD), and conventional machining. Students learn quality-control, design and the economic aspects of additive manufacturing. The Additive Manufacturing Certificate prepares and supports students for three industry certifications (Siemens Additive Manufacturing Certification, SME, and Additive Manufacturing Certificate).

Company Name
The Advanced Manufacturing with Robotics Pathway is a 180-hour Integrated Education and Training (IET) course designed to prepare students for entry-level roles in manufacturing with a focus on robotics, automation, and quality control. Students gain:
- Hands-on training in robotic systems operations, industrial automation, and troubleshooting
- Instruction aligned with workplace safety standards (OSHA 10/30)

This specialization will focus on the concepts and vocabulary that prepares learners to work in a variety of positions in the manufacturing sector. Learners will gain a specialized education in manufacturing processes, project management, production management, critical thinking, problem solving, advanced manufacturing techniques, blue print reading, and process safety. This specialization, upon successful completion, will qualify for a Certificate of Applied Technical Related Studies completion from Bay Institute of Science and Engineering (BISE) that can also be applied toward the Department of Labor Journeypersons Certification.

Mechatronics and Robotics Apprenticeship (MRA) offers the student multiple industry courses that are in high demand by manufacturing and logistics companies across Indiana. MRA is a 464 hour program designed to teach the student the skills and knowledge to be considered an entry level Industrial Maintenance Technician. A production technician can be a manufacturer’s frontline defense against defective products and quality issues. In order to be effective in this role, employees must have a baseline of skills to ensure accuracy including problem-solving skills, analytics, communication, and the ability to work well with others.
The Production Technician Skills for Success program is a 20-day program geared toward helping individuals in the manufacturing industry or new to the industry prepare for a career as a production technician. The structure of the program is geared around developing the primary skillset needed including quality tools and techniques, principles of lean manufacturing, safety, basic pneumatics and hydraulics, along with an introduction to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Students will learn to burn/cut metal surfaces initially. In addition, in this introductory/beginning class, gas metal arc welding will be the primary focus, but other processes will be introduced. Ivy Tech’s CDL+ program is a 18-credit-hour certificate that can be completed in one semester. Students will have 160 hours of training, which prepares them to become a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) holder. The program includes 121 hours of operating observation, 30 hours of behind-the-wheel skill development, an 8-week internship, an overview of logistics and transportation which includes all types of trucking operations including intermodal processes. There is also a focus on professionalism and customer service.

Includes instruction in operating gas, diesel, or electrically powered vehicles; loading and unloading cargo or passengers; reporting delays or accidents on the road; verifying load against shipping papers; arranging transportation for personnel; and keeping records of receipts and fares. This course prepares students to successfully pass both the written and practical portions of the State of Indiana’s Class A CDL test to secure an entry level position as a tractor-trailer driver with a trucking company.
