Indiana Workforce Region/Local Area Realignment

Pursuant to Indiana Executive Order 25-45 and consistent with regional identification and local area designation requirements prescribed in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and its implementing regulations, Indiana has initiated an alignment review (Review) of its twelve local workforce development areas (LWDAs or Regions). This Review, led by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) follows Governor Braun’s announcement confirming Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) regions as Indiana’s economic planning framework.

The proposed regional model resulting from this review aligns services with local labor market needs, reduces duplicative functions, and standardizes processes to minimize administrative overhead to better serve job seekers and employers across the state. This approach directs resources more efficiently across the state and enables faster responses to changing economic conditions. This streamlined approach simplifies customer pathways, improves system responsiveness, and reduces bureaucratic complexity.

We invite stakeholders, including local elected officials, businesses, educational institutions, and workforce partners, to participate in this important evaluation.
