How can I get my DD214?
Most military records are on file at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, MO. Click here for more information.
The fastest way to order a DD214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, is through eVetRecs.
Once records are located, a link will be sent to the requester via email and will be password-protected. Once this is received, it will be available for a limited time that will be noted on the email notification.
Funeral Directors can order emergency requests. Click here for more information on the Funeral Director's Information page
IDVA does have some DD214s on file. These records span from 1989 to the present. Don't have an Indiana Address after separation? Contact the Veterans Affairs in the state you resided in after separation. This will be a state agency, not the federal VA.
If you served from 1979 to 1988, your DD214 may be on file at the Indiana State Archives. Veterans who applied for war bonuses from World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War have a DD214. Click Here to visit the Indiana State Archives web page
