Indiana's Dennis Wimer Sworn in as President of National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs

Wimer's Appointment Met with Widespread Support and Enthusiasm

ARLINGTON, Va. - On Monday, Dennis Wimer, Executive Director of the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA), took the helm as President of the National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs (NASDVA). This esteemed appointment illustrates the nation's state directors’ confidence in Wimer to lead and his ability to curate trust and pioneer innovative, award-winning state programs.

"It is an honor to serve as President of NASDVA and continue the organization's mission to support and empower our nation's heroes," said Director Wimer. "As a veteran myself, I understand the importance of collaboration and advocacy for the men and women who have served our country. I look forward to working with my fellow state directors to drive meaningful change and improve the lives of veterans across the United States."

In addition to his duties at IDVA, as NASDVA president Wimer will play a pivotal role in shaping NASDVA's agenda, chairing key committees, and fostering crucial discussions. He will also appoint members to standing committees and perform various duties integral to the presidency. Additionally, Wimer will designate a representative to collaborate with the Association of State Veterans Homes, ensuring a unified effort to support veterans.

Wimer was appointed during an installation ceremony in Arlington, Va., as part of the NASDVA Midwinter Conference, and marks the beginning of a new year of leadership for NASDVA. He is committed to advancing veterans’ welfare and is poised to expand NASDVA’s best practice sharing and inter-state partnerships to make a significant impact on a national scale.
