Disabled Veteran Discounted Hunting and Fishing License, and Golden Hoosier Passport

Indiana Code 14-22-12-1.5

What is the Benefit?

Qualified veterans can purchase:

  • A one-year license for $2.75 OR
  • A 10-year license for $27.50

The license covers the hunting of small game as well as fishing, excluding any stamps.

Who Might be Eligible?

A person who is an Indiana Resident who served in the Armed Forces of the United States has a service-connected disability as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or has disability retirement benefits administered under laws administered by the U.S. Department of Defense.

How to Apply:

Send State Form 50833 to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) at the address in the upper right corner of the form either by mail or in person.  DNR will not process a faxed copy.To have your license processed and returned to you by USPS mail, send a self-addressed stamped envelope per the instruction sheet attached to the state form.

Golden Hoosier Passport:

A Golden Hoosier Passport provides unlimited admission to all Indiana state-owned parks, recreation areas, reservoirs, and forests on an annual basis. It is NOT valid for historic sites, museums, memorials, and other Department of Natural Resources (DNR) facilities. The pass is good for one calendar year.

Persons eligible for a Disabled Hoosier Veteran license plate under IC 9-18.5-5 may purchase an annual Disabled Hoosier Veteran Pass for $25. The pass is available to buy online and at DNR locations throughout the state. Passholders get unlimited admission to all Indiana state-owned parks, recreation areas, reservoirs, and forests for one calendar year. The pass is NOT valid for historic sites, museums, memorials, and other Department of Natural Resources facilities. Former Prisoners of War will receive their Hoosier Golden Passport in the mail after their plates are issued. If you do not receive yours in a reasonable time, or have other plates on your vehicle but are entitled to POW plates, contact the Department of Natural Resources at 1-800-622-4931.
