Mission Statement of the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery:

The Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery is dedicated to Veterans and their families as a lasting memorial and final resting place, in appreciation and gratitude for their service and sacrifice to our nation.

Annual Events

Memorial Day 2026

The ceremony was held last Monday in May. "A hero is someone who has given his or her life for something bigger than oneself." -Joseph Campbell

Wreaths Across America 2026

A ceremony is held each year in December. National Wreaths Across America Day is a movement to cover all veteran grave markers with a Christmas wreath.

Eligibility for Burial
Military Discharge:
  • Veterans separated under conditions other than Dishonorable are eligible for burial.
Indiana National Guard & Reservist:
  • Must have a discharge other than Dishonorable.
  • Death occurred while a member of the Indiana National Guard or Reserve Military Component
Active Duty Death:
  • Service members who die on active duty, in the line of duty.
Surviving Spouse:
  • The surviving spouse of an eligible veteran can be buried at the IVMC.
The Child of a Veteran:
  • Child must be under age 21 or a permanent dependent of the veteran.
Eligible Veterans and Spouses
No Cost For:
  • Opening & closing of the burial plot
  • Outer burial container
  • Monument
  • Use of the chapel
Types of Burials:
  • Casket Burial "Vault."
  • In-ground Cremation
  • Columbarium
  • Scatter Garden

A certificate can be requested by the family or the funeral home
