Highway Department

The Randolph County Highway Department maintains 869 miles of roads which includes 32 miles of stone, 672.25 miles of chip and seal, 164.75 miles of blacktop, and 218 bridges throughout Randolph County. The department provides for snow removal in winter, pothole repair in the spring, grading and improving roads in the summer, maintaining county road signs, and more.

Mike Haffner is the Randolph County Highway Department, Supervisor. The county barn is open from Monday-Thursday 7 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and closed Friday. However, road crews operate around the clock as needed.

The "County Barn" is where all of the road maintenance equipment is housed and maintained and where the highway department staff meet to begin their workday.

The Highway Department has a crew of 20 full-time personnel consisting of road maintenance workers, mechanics, dispatchers, and clerical personnel.

  • Road repairs are funded from taxes you pay on gasoline taxes charged at pumps at gas stations in Indiana.
