Township Assistance

The Van Buren Township Trustee can assist residents of Van Buren Township with emergency needs for basic necessities of living.  The Trustee’s office can assist by providing financial aid or making a referral to another organization that can best meet the need. Basic necessities of living include:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Rental Assistance
  • Medical
  • Utilities
  • Essential household supplies
  • Burial Assistance

To Apply for Assistance:

  1. Call our office to schedule an appointment 765-667-7061.
  2. Complete the state required TA-1 application.

    Applications can be picked up at our office or printed and brought with you to your scheduled appointment. DO NOT SIGN APPLICATION BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT.

  3. Provide the required documentation from this list.

A decision cannot be made on your assistance request if you fail to provide ALL of the required documents.

Van Buren Township Assistance Standards and Guidelines

In order to make the most efficient use of tax dollars and to avoid the duplication of services, Van Buren Township partners with other community organizations to provide essential services.

  • Harvest House Food Pantry: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays 6pm-7pm, 210 N 1st St, Van Buren, 765-934-2199.
  • Free Community Meal: 2nd Wednesdays 4:30-6:30pm, Church of the Vine, 108 S 2nd St, Van Buren, 765-934-1431. Van Buren Church of the Vine.
  • 2nd Harvest Food Bank: 4th Wednesdays 4:00-5:00pm, Eastbrook North Elementary School Gym, 504 S 1st St, Van Buren (available year-round). 765-934-2199.
  • Youngster’s Closet: free children’s clothing, Farrville Community Church 11044 E 200 N Van Buren, 765-618-0027
  • City Life Switch-Up: Free after school program for grades 6-12. Mon-Thurs 3pm-5pm. Located next to the Marathon gas station in Van Buren. A meal is provided. CityLife Switchup
