Marquette Greenway
The Marquette Greenway is a planned regional trail extending through Northwest Indiana's Lake Michigan shoreline communities between Chicago, Illinois and New Buffalo, Michigan.
Burns Harbor completed at 1.5 mile segment in early 2021 from State Road 149 west to the Portage boundary and is currently developing the remainder of the trail through town. This trail is considered a vital link for connecting the Eastern and Western sections of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore together and for bringing users to the future town center.

Marquette Greenway- Phase 1B
The Town of Burns Harbor is making progress on the environmental and design work of the Marquette Greenway Phase IB Project that will connect the trail from Stanley St. to the Town of Porter. Today, the National Park Service has opened the Environmental Assessment 30-day public comment period. Please review the NPS press release and planning documents at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/indumgmnokeprairie1. A hard copy of the report is on file at the Town Hall, 1240 N. Boo Rd. Burns Harbor, IN 46304. All public comments should be submitted to the NPS directly through the "Comment Now" button on their project webpage.
Prairie-Duneland Trail
The Prairie-Duneland Trail is an 11 mile, paved trail system through the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and the shoreline communities of Porter and Chesterton.
Burns Harbor is currently developing a town connector on the southwest side to the Prairie-Duneland Trail system.
