The Town of Burns Harbor turned 50 years old on September 9, 2017 and the milestone was celebrated in August with a party filled with family fun, music and fireworks at Lakeland Park. It was also celebrated throughout the rest of the year in many ways including a tree sapling giveaway, a commemorative lapel pin, dedication of the Indiana Territory Boundary Line marker, special presentations of the town's history, a proclamation honoring the town, and a holiday ornament.
