Onsite Sewage Systems Program

The Environmental Health Division also includes the onsite sewage program. The onsite sewage program follows minimum State-wide standards for residential onsite sewage disposal systems.  Prior to construction or repair of an on-site sewage system (septic system), the property owner is required to obtain a permit from the Tipton County Health Department. The size of the system is determined by factors such as soil types and the number of bedrooms in the house. In all cases, a soil test is needed to determine the area of the absorption field. Any work performed on a septic system must receive prior approval before the work begins.
