Short Course Program
Short Course is a free, immersion program designed to create a partnership between ISBVI and local school corporations to provide a well-rounded curriculum base for students with visual impairments.
Students are invited to attend school on the ISBVI campus for one or two weeks each month (program offered the first and second week of each month). During the program, small group and one-on-one academic supports are provided to maintain the student's core curriculum and home school expectations. In addition, the students are given the opportunity to be inundated with the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) as the ECC remains the central focus of the program.
Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) consists of: compensatory or functional academic skills including communication modes, orientation and mobility, social interaction skills, independent living skills, recreation and leisure skills, career education, use of assistive technology, sensory efficiency skills, and self-determination.

“It takes a lot of practice for our students to integrate these skills into their bodies and minds. Our students, just like any students, need safe chances to practice and fail and to then try again and be successful.”
