Notice of Annual Meeting

The Governing Board of the Indian Boundary Conservancy District will convene the Conservancy District 2025 annual meeting at 7:00 p.m. on February 11, 2025, at the Westchester Public Library located at 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton, IN 46304 in the Bertha Wood Meeting Room. Representation of two directorship areas will be up for election at the annual meeting. One directorship position consists of that portion of the conservancy district located north of Indian Boundary Road. Incumbent Board Member Daniel Doolin filed the only nominating petition for that directorship area. The second directorship position consists of that portion of the conservancy district located south of Indian Boundary Road. Incumbent Board Member Jon Dunlap filed the only nominating petition for that directorship area. As such, there will be no contested election at the annual meeting. Both Incumbents will be sworn in at the annual meeting for a full four-year term. The Governing Board will also organize by electing from its membership a Chairman and Vice Chairman.
The Governing Board will answer any questions or concerns posed by any freeholder in attendance at the annual meeting. Any and all Indian Boundary Conservancy District freeholders are invited and encouraged to participate in the annual meeting.

The Board of Directors of the Indian Boundary Conservancy District are inviting potential candidates for membership on the Board of Directors of the conservancy district to file nominating petitions pursuant to I.C. 14-33-5-3. Two directorship positions will be up for election at the annual meeting in 2025. One directorship position is currently held by Incumbent Board Member Dan Doolin and represents that area of the conservancy district located north of Indian Boundary Road. The election for this directorship position will be for a full four-year term on the Governing Board. The second directorship position is currently held by Incumbent Board Member Jon Dunlap and represents the area south of Indian Boundary Road. The election for this directorship position will be for a full four-year term on the Governing Board.
Any candidate for either of the directorship positions must be a freeholder from the directorship area for which the candidacy is sought and must also qualify by knowledge and experience in matters pertaining to the development of the Conservancy District. The candidate may also be a nominee of a corporate freeholder.
Anyone interested in seeking the directorship positions must file a nominating petition signed by at least five (5) freeholders from the directorship area for which the nominating petition is filed. The nominating petition must be filed by mail and addressed to the Indian Boundary Conservancy District at P.O. Box 657, Chesterton, Indiana 46304. All nominating petitions must be received at the Conservancy District mailing address prior to November 30, 2024, or be postmarked (private postage meter postmarks will not be accepted) before November 30, 2024, and have sufficient United States Postage and be addressed to the district's mailing address. This legal notice soliciting nominating petitions will appear on the Indian Boundary Conservancy District website http://www.ibcdonline.org.

Notice to Taxpayers of Additional Appropriations

Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the Indian Boundary Conservancy District, located in Porter County, Indiana, that the board of Directors of the Indian Boundary Conservancy District will meet at the Westchester Public Library at 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton, IN 46304 in the Bertha Wood Meeting Room (2nd Floor), at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th of September 2024, and will at that time consider the following additional appropriations from the District’s General Fund in excess of the budget for the current year.

Taxpayers appearing at the meeting will have a right to be heard. The additional appropriation as finally made will be referred to the State Department of Local Government Finance. The Department will make a written determination as to the sufficiency of the fund to support the appropriation made within fifteen (15) days of receipt of a certified copy of the additional appropriation.

Notice of Change of Meeting Location and Dates for Remainder of 2024 Meetings, effective 8/13/2024

The Indian Boundary Conservancy District Board of Directors will meet at Westchester Public Library (Thomas Branch) located at 200 W. Indiana Ave. in Chesterton, IN 46304 in the Bertha Wood Meeting Room for their regularly scheduled board meetings on: 8/13/2024, 9/12/2024 (Board Meeting & 2025 Budget Hearing), 10/17/2024 (Board Meeting & 2025 Budget Adoption), 11/14/2024, and 12/12/2024 at 7 PM.
These location and date changes are due to construction at the Chesterton Town Hall.

The Governing Board of the Indian Boundary Conservancy District will convene the annual meeting at 7:00 p.m. on February 13, 2024, at the Chesterton Town Hall located at 726 Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana. There is one directorship position up for election at the annual meeting. That directorship position serves that portion of the conservancy district located north of Indian Boundary Road. The Incumbent Boad member, Carol Wood, has filed a valid and timely nominating petition for reelection. No other candidates filed nominating petitions and as such there will be no contested election. Incumbent Board Member Carol Wood will be sworn in for a full four-year term on the Governing Board. The Governing Board will also organize by electing from its membership a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
The Governing Board will answer any questions or concerns posed by any freeholder in attendance at the annual meeting. Any and all Indian Boundary Conservancy District freeholders are invited and encouraged to participate in the annual meeting.
