Terminated pregnancies and termination complications are reported to the Indiana Department of Health by providers in accordance with Indiana Code § 16-34-2.
Quarterly terminated pregnancy reports and complications reports are published 60 days following the end of the calendar quarter. Records may legally be submitted by providers up to 30 days after a reportable event, and 30 days are needed to validate data submitted to IDOH and prepare the report for publication.
NOTE:On June 18, 2025, a Texas court vacated the 2024 HIPAA Privacy Rule to Support Reproductive Healthcare Privacy. This action further confirmed the necessity for providers to submit terminated pregnancy reports to IDOH pursuant to IC 16-34-2-5. IDOH worked with providers to file any previously unsubmitted reports for procedures occurring during the time frame affected by the now vacated privacy rule. Revised affected reports (fourth quarter 2024 and first quarter 2025 quarterly and complications reports, 2024 Annual Report) have been posted with the originals, and the second quarter 2025 reports are now available..
