Next Level Self-Advocacy in Indiana
Next Level Self-Advocacy in Indiana, in partnership with Self-Advocates of Indiana (SAI), is working to ensure that people with disabilities have the tools and support they need to take charge of their lives, speak up for their needs and build stronger communities across the state.
Positive changes
we’re making
This project has received national recognition for its leadership and impact. Highlights include:
- Hosting successful statewide disability resource fairs, with a focus on rural and underserved areas.
- Strengthening support systems by improving collaboration between SAI and state staff.
- Enhancing the data collection and reporting process to measure success and identify areas for growth.
- Ongoing updates to the grant agreement to better align with SAI’s goals and mission.

Supporting advocacy
and leadership
This initiative supports Goal 2 (Leadership and Advocacy), Objective 2 of the Council’s five-year state plan. The Council works with SAI to:
- Provide meaningful leadership training for people with intellectual and developmental Disabilities (ID/DD).
- Recognize and elevate the voices of self-advocates as leaders and decision-makers.
- Promote their inclusion in local and statewide planning and programs.
Building Stronger
Self-Advocacy
Key focus areas for the upcoming year include:
- Growing self-advocacy across Indiana.
- Reaching more voices within the ID/DD community.
- Expanding access to inclusive leadership training.
- Offering community-based programs that help self-advocates build skills and confidence.
