Volunteers Needed for the 52nd Annual Black Expo

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration needs volunteers for the upcoming 52nd Annual Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration! The event begins Thursday, July 6 and wraps up Sunday, July 16.

FSSA will host a booth at the Indiana Department of Health’s Minority Health Fair from Thursday, July 13 through Sunday, July 16.

During the fair, FSSA volunteers will have the opportunity to engage attendees and share more information about health and FSSA programs to seniors, persons with disabilities and other Hoosiers in need.

We need your help to make this weekend a success! If you’re interested in participating, please review the information below.

  • Consult with your supervisor about participating and using community service leave: Staff offering their time must have supervisor approval prior to signing up for the event. Volunteer staff are expected to work at the designated booth for the entirety of their assigned shift(s). If you use community service leave, please work with your supervisor to complete this form one week prior to the event and bring it to the fair for verification of your service.
  • Complete the sign-up sheet by July 7: Employees representing FSSA at the health fair should indicate their shift preference(s) and their supervisor’s name in the link to the online form. Staff are encouraged to sign up for all shifts they are available as a limited number of workers will be approved for each shift. You will receive an email confirming your participation in the fair and next steps.
  • Attend virtual orientation session: There will be a virtual orientation the week of July 10, with details to follow. Session will include information for parking accommodations for staff not located in or familiar the Indiana Government Center. A recording of the orientation will be provided for those who cannot attend.

Please contact the Office of Healthy Opportunities at healthyopportunities@fssa.in.gov, if you have any questions. Supervisors, please email OHO if you have questions about how to use the community service leave form to facilitate staff participation in IBE.
