Marion central rocks!

For this year's warm and fuzzy collection, Marion Central's office was able to collect an impressive 161 items! All items will be donated to the Louis B. Russell Jr. School.

Glen Park DFR holds collection for Emma's House

We would like to take a moment to recognize the Glen Park DFR family this morning. This team identified Emma’s House, a newly formed transitional home for women as an opportunity to give back to the community.  See below the most generous collection of supplies donated to the organization recently. Well done, Glen Park. Thank you!!!


SECC Results

  • In 2017 DFR staff donated $43,758.20 to the SECC campaign. In 2016 DFR staff donated $41,212.00.
  • In 2017 39% of DFR staff participated in the SECC. In 2016 31.3% of DFR staff participated.

Morgan County DFR

Morgan County DFR had a clothing and household item drive for the Holiday Season. They will be donating these items to the Desert Rose Foundation. The Desert Rose Foundation is a local organization that does outreach programs for youth, children’s services, and advocacy for victims of sexual assault and/or domestic abuse.

Marion Central DFR

The Marion Central Division of Family Resources local office doesn’t just work hard to ensure timeliness, accuracy and prompt case processing on applications and ongoing cases, they strive towards meeting the needs of their community. Marion Central is located in the heart of a poverty stricken area and is determined to attack poverty head on! According to American Factfinder (2015 stat) zip code 46208 (Marion Central sits directly in) has 36.2% of the residents living below poverty level. Marion Central is focused on fighting poverty, all while serving with “Excellence Everytime, Everyone and with Everything.

The Marion Central DFR office has been dedicated to community service for the last several years and sponsors a community-support organization on a regular basis. The Marion Central Happy Committee steers all community drives and collections. Recently Marion Central DFR collected and delivered over 100 food and personal health items to the Dove Recovery House. The Dove Recovery House is committed to empowering women to become substance free, self-sufficient and healthy, by providing safe housing, quality programming and above all hope for their future.

Floyd County DFR

Congratulations to our DFR staff that ran the 5K in Floyd County as part of the "Run the State" series! The event took place at Patoka Lake state park and participants got to enjoy the scenary while running along the trails. Madison County DFR

The Madison County DFR participated in the United Way Diaper Drive. We separated in to two teams and made it a competition. The result was a total of 7051 diapers being collected for the babies of Madison County. What a great example of team work for a good cause!

Happy New Year!  2017 is the year of the Rooster!  Let’s strut our stuff!  Thank you all for your effort and performance in 2016!I’m excited to announce that we have developed an opportunity to purchase DFR branded apparel online.  To view and purchase DFR apparel please visit – www.ShopIndianaFSSA.com We have decided to start with a basic polo shirt. There is a men’s and women’s version.  The polo shirt is being offered in green, white and black.

Each shirt has “Division of Family Resources” embroidered over the left chest and a pinpoint embroidered patch with the FSSA logo on the right sleeve.  I know you take great pride in assisting our State’s most vulnerable constituents and I am pleased to give you this opportunity to wear that pride with this branded apparel.  This apparel is acceptable daily office attire.

We are starting out with a group order for the DFR that will close on Friday, February 3rd.  The group order allows for the best pricing and shipping is currently restricted to your work address.  Moving forward, we will consider having additional products, open shipping options and individual opportunities to purchase.

Your participation in this launch is totally optional.  Our vendor will benefit from your participation and learn how best to offer products and fulfill our future needs.

Vanderburgh County DFR

On September 25, 2016, Vanderburgh DFR participated in the Komen Evansville Race for the Cure at the Eastland Mall in Evansville, Indiana. There were 7,967 participants total and together they all raised $91,058.32 to help fnd a cure.

Marion Central DFR

On February 19, 2016, Marion-Central held a "Warm Fuzzy Drive" for the Julian Center. A total of 33 hats, gloves, scarfs, and socks were collected, along with 3 coats and some non-perishable food items. The Julian Center representative was very excited about the donated items and said that the items were exactly what they needed. We would like to thank everyone who donated and would like to give special thanks to Wendi Smith, Gladys Colon-Clark and Kraig Parson for their generous donations.

Gibson County DFR

On September 26, 2015, Gibson County staff seen here representing DFR at the Gibson County Suicide Prevention Walk held in Princeton, Indiana.

​In February 2015, Adrienne Shields was appointed the new Director of the Division of Family Resources (DFR).

DFR Executive

On February 11th, DFR Executive staff visited Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park for an Executive Retreat. External Facilitator Jim Funk, of J L Funk & Associates, lead the Executives through a process calling Integrating the New Executive which helped them to develop strong lines of two-way communication with each other, enable a smooth continuing transition for Director Adrienne Shields, and further build the relationships within the team.

The Executives participated in team-building exercises, lead by Sirrilla Blackmon of DMHA, and learned their B.E.S.T. Communication Styles with the assistance of Portia Regan of BMV.

The Executives also received encouraging words from Dr. John Wernert, Secretary, Michael Gargano, Deputy Secretary, and Chris Johnson, Chief of Staff.

Johnson County DFR

Congressman Todd Young visited Johnson County DFR office on January 23rd. Congressman Young toured the office, visited staff, and gathered information regarding the eligibility process in Indiana.

St. Joseph County DFR

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski visited the St. Joseph County (Michigan Street) office on February 18th wanting to learn about how we process SNAP benefits. She was impressed by the way our software systems speak to each other and how it enables us to put staff virtually in counties where there is a need.
