Volunteers Needed for the 51st Annual Black Expo

The 51st Annual Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration is July 7 - 17, 2022. The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration is once again a corporate sponsor of the Indiana Black and Minority Health Fair and the Youth Leadership Summit, July 15-16. FSSA will have booths at the health fair from Thursday, July 14- Sunday, July 17. The Division of Aging will also be coordinating free transportation to the health fair for seniors and persons with disabilities on July 14. This event is one of FSSA’s primary agency-wide community outreach events.

Through our sponsorship in this event, we will provide information about health and FSSA programs to seniors, persons with disabilities and other Hoosiers in need, as well as help Indiana youth build important leadership skills. FSSA’s Know the Facts campaign will be featured throughout the fair, including in a panel focused on substance use.

We need your help to make this weekend a success! Individuals who wish to represent FSSA at the health fair should review the documents listed below. The deadline for signing up to volunteer via this form is July 5, 2022. There will also be a virtual orientation the week of July 11, with details to follow. A recording of the orientation will be provided for those who cannot attend.

  • Consider flexing your time or using community service hours with your supervisor’s permission: Staff are encouraged to sign up for available shifts. Persons offering their time must have approval from their supervisor and are expected to work at the designated booth for their assigned shift(s). If you use community service leave, please work with your supervisor to complete this form and bring it to the fair for verification of your service.
  • Complete sign-up sheet: Employees representing FSSA at the health fair should indicate their shift preference(s) and their supervisor’s name in the link to the online form. A limited number of workers will be approved for each shift.

Please direct your questions to the Office of Healthy Opportunities at healthyopportunities@fssa.in.gov. You will receive an email confirming your participation in the fair and next steps.
