National 211 Day is coming up and FSSA and Indiana 211 is celebrating it!

National 211 Day celebrates and helps to spread awareness in the United States about the 211 call assistance and the resources and services offered to callers. Indiana 211 answers calls specifically for Hoosiers. As a result, Governor Eric Holcomb has proclaimed Feb. 11, 2023, as 211 Day in Indiana.

This year’s theme is “211 is Connection, 211 is Help.”

This focuses on the people behind 211 with the special feature entitled "I am 211," highlighting the 211 community navigators as the backbone of the service.

Indiana 211 became a part of the FSSA agency in July of 2020, and since then, we have helped hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers. Indiana 211 is a free service that connects Hoosiers with help and answers from thousands of health and human service agencies and resources right in their local communities—quickly, easily and confidentially. Indiana 211’s team is comprised of experienced, responsive and compassionate community navigators who are skilled at actively listening and identifying needs and providing referrals that best meet those needs.”

Since January 2022, Indiana 211 has answered approximately 500,000 calls. Indiana 211 community navigators helped more than 110,000 callers by making over 400,000 referrals to community organizations and programs.

Indiana 211 uses statistical data (not personally identifiable information) from calls, texts and web visits to help shed light on the nature of social needs in Indiana for decision-makers and government across the state. The information is updated weekly and made available on our Indiana 211 public dashboard found at IN211.org.
