Medical Services

Medical Director: Danny Meadows, M.D.

The medical staff of Logansport State Hospital is committed to enhancing the quality of services rendered to our patients.

Our philosophical belief is that the most effective care is achieved through cooperative efforts of the interdisciplinary treatment teams working in conjunction with patients, their families, and community-based programs.

Medical staff adhere to the credentialing and privileging processes set forth in the medical - professional - staff bylaws, rules and regulations.

Practice guidelines are established in the rules and regulations for all licensed physicians. Peer reviews consisting of evaluations of patient care, medical/clinical knowledge, practice-based learning/improvement, systems-based practice, clinical/technical skills, and clinical judgment are completed on a regular basis, along with monitoring of ongoing clinical medical education. These processes are assessed as part of the reappointment/re-privileging process for medical staff.

Psychiatrists are integral members of the interdisciplinary treatment teams and provide assessments, treatment planning, education, and discharge planning to the patients they serve.

The medical staff strives to provide continued quality medical services, individualized according to the assessed needs, in the most cost-effective manner, and in a caring and supportive environment.

Medical services are responsible for the professional supervision of all clinical disciplines, as well as clinical support services. This includes the director of nursing, the director of rehabilitation, and the directors of psychology and social services. Medical services are also responsible for the overall direction and supervision of the radiology department and the EKG department. Clinically contracted services such as podiatry and cardiology are also the responsibility of medical services. Through the Medical Professional Staff Organization, medical services are indirectly responsible for audiology services, speech pathology, and dietary services. Monitoring of all services is achieved by regular supervision and by review of the performance measurements of each department and service.
