  • Resources for outreach programs

    flood outreach banner

We encourage your community to develop an outreach program if you do not already have one in place. Through outreach, you can make citizens more aware of their true flood risk so they can make better-informed decisions. This also makes for a safer, more resilient environment that will mitigate or reduce future flood losses and the need for community assistance, including local flood response and recovery efforts. Encouraging residents and business owners in your community to purchase flood insurance will make your community more resilient. There are social media templates and other resources provided by FEMA that can be found and downloaded at agents.floodsmart.gov/marketing/resource-library. Please help increase the outreach being done during the current spring flood insurance outreach campaign by placing information about flood insurance on your community’s web and social media sites.

  • FEMA releases Rate Explanation and Discount guides

FEMA has also recently released the “Rate Explanation” and “Discount” guides to help citizens understand how the premiums are determined and discounted for a Standard Flood Insurance Policy (SFIP). Recent changes to the rating methodology have made these guides even more helpful. The guides are available at agents.floodsmart.gov/agents-guide/risk-rating
