Endress+Hauser Champions Lifelong Learning Through Upskilling

Endress+Hauser, a global leader in measurement and automation technology for process and laboratory applications with its North American headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, is deepening its long-standing commitment to workforce development through a robust, scalable upskilling strategy. Drawing on more than 50 years in the U.S. and an apprenticeship legacy rooted in its Swiss heritage, the company has built a culture where employee growth is central to its mission.

The company manufactures precision instrumentation used across oil and gas, food and beverage, power and energy, water and wastewater, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries to measure flow, level, pressure, temperature, liquid analysis, optical analysis, and other variables keeping production safe and efficient. To meet evolving customer needs, Endress+Hauser offers a range of internal and external training opportunities, including tuition reimbursement, technical instruction, and professional development, tailored to roles within the organization.

Employees can pursue degrees through Ivy Tech’s Achieve Your Degree program without paying upfront, and discounted MBA options through Indiana State University make advanced education highly accessible.

“I was at a point in my life where I didn’t think I needed further education, but when I found out about Ivy Tech’s program with Endress+Hauser, I decided to go for it,” said Macy Harris, Supply Chain Expeditor at Endress+Hauser USA. “It’s never too late to take on a new opportunity and challenge yourself.”

Upskilling is embedded into personalized development plans and supported by the company’s internal talent development group. Employees gain new skills that open doors to growth and advancement across the Greenwood campus and the company’s global network, while strengthening operations. This approach not only prepares employees for future roles, it reinforces a culture of continuous learning that benefits the entire organization.

“The employees themselves are getting a new skill set that brings value and return to the company,” said Nicole Otte, Director of Workforce Development. “Whether it’s through technical apprenticeships or tuition-supported degrees, they’re learning how to make our processes safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective. That kind of development helps employees grow into their next or future roles, so really just that general return on investment has been a big benefit.”

Retention remains strong, with employees often expressing long-term commitment to the company. Apprentices who joined in 2019 are now full-time team members, some even transitioning into new departments as their skills expand. “They say I want to work here for the rest of my life,” Otte shared.

Strategic and human-centered, Endress+Hauser’s approach to upskilling prepares employees for the future - and inspires them to build it from within.
