Governor's First Recognized Earn & Learn Programs to be Launched by Stewart's Healthcare Consultants

INDIANAPOLIS (June 14, 2018) — Stewart’s Healthcare Consultants in Kokomo will be recognized for starting the state’s first Earn & Learn programs. The audience will include representatives from the Kokomo Mayor’s Office and Chamber of Commerce, and leaders from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) including Darrel Zeck, Executive Director of the Office of Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeship.
WHAT: Brief remarks from those involved and awarding of certificates. Stewart’s Healthcare Consultants has created two Earn & Learn programs – one for adults and one for youth. Participants will acquire on-the-job training while earning money. Both programs will result in standing credit at Ivy Tech Community College.

WHY: The Office of Work-Based Learning and Apprenticeship, housed in DWD, was established earlier this year as a result of Executive Order 18-04 signed by Gov. Eric Holcomb. The Office’s goals are to facilitate work-based learning opportunities; offer support and resources to develop skill and duty-driven curriculum; support development of work-based learning programming; and approve state Earn & Learn models.
