Private Employment Agency

The law requiring the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) to administer licensing of private employment agencies was repealed in new legislation passed by the Indiana General Assembly.

Effective July 1, 2023, private employment agencies will no longer need to register or renew their license with DOR, while temporary healthcare service agencies will be required to apply for a license with the Indiana Department of Health. Temporary healthcare service agencies may contact the Department of Health at (317) 233-1325 to apply for their license.

A private employment agency is any person, firm, limited liability company, or corporation, who for hire or with a view to profit offers an individual help to secure employment through:

  • Card, circular, pamphlet, or any medium whatsoever
  • Display of a sign or bulletin
  • Information as to where to find employment
